Clinical Support

Tidal Shift Recovery in Somers Point, NJ, a separate but affiliated entity with Surfside, is among the community partners that offer off-site 12-step immersion and ancillary clinical services.

We found this adds a level of off-site clinical support that participants, families, and referring agencies appreciate while still providing ample time for our participants to build life skills, engage in meaningful activities and begin to enjoy life beyond the walls of an addiction treatment center.

We also feel comfortable partnering with other local treatment providers for this level of care if it’s a better fit. Our staff completes a thorough pre-admission and admissions assessment, which allows us to recommend a comprehensive plan for each participant.

Please visit our “State Compliance” page for more information about Tidal Shift Recovery’s affiliation with Surfside, as well as other non-affiliated community partners.

Building a

Personalized Plan

Addiction can have significant physical consequences, so our peer support staff has open conversations with participants about their needs. Individuals may express interest in providers for ongoing medical concerns, physical therapy, dental work, chiropractic care and more. We’ve found participants have lingering medical issues that are exacerbated by use or largely ignored in active addiction – healing the entire person means they should address all of the mental & physical aspects of health.

Medical Care

Our staff completes a thorough pre-admission and admissions assessment, which allows us to identify each participant’s unique needs as a whole person. As people get settled in this area long-term, they often express an interest in finding a primary care doctor.

Historically, our participants utilized physicians at Shore Physicians Group or Atlanticare. Men can address ongoing and often ignored medical issues at these offices, or others in the local area.

Psychiatric Care

Many of our Surfside participants require ongoing psychiatric care. We’ve taken great strides to help them identify local providers with a deep understanding of Substance Use Disorder and a profound respect for the work we do at Surfside. Open lines of communication between Surfside and a prescriber allow our team to better support our participants. Discussions about ongoing psychiatric care typically take place during our initial discussion with the family, or a participant may opt to integrate psychiatric services on their own after they settle in.

dental Care

Everyone comes to Surfside with varying degrees of medical concerns, including dental issues. Stable, self-sufficient adults understand the importance of regular dental cleanings and good oral hygiene.

In active substance use, people may neglect these regular appointments and come to us with an array of dental issues. Our participants often schedule visits for dental care with Lakeview Dental or Ventnor Community Dental.

physical therapy

Occasionally, participants require physical therapy for a current or previous injury that is causing them discomfort. We believe that folks in recovery should be proactive about this kind of pain management, as it teaches them to advocate for their physical well-being and take action to create change.

Participants typically visit DeRosa Physical Therapy or Shore Ortho for PT services.
